Frequently Asked Questions
- Are the cats in cat cafés adoptable?
- Majority of them, yes! Some businesses may have 'resident' cats that are permanent fosters that aren't adoptable. Some cafés also choose to foster cats without letting people adopt them, similar to the lounges in Japan.
- Are food and drinks prepared near the cats?
- No. Health regulations require cafés to prepare food and drinks in a separate, cat-free area. Some states, like GA, even go further and don't allow certain prepared food that aren't already pre-packaged in store.
- Do I need a reservation?
- Some cafés allow walk-ins, when available, but many recommend reserving your time online.
- Can I bring my own cat?
- No. Please no. For the safety of the café cats and your own outside cats not already vetted and properly introdcued through the partnered rescue are allowed inside.
- Are children allowed in cat cafés?
- Policies vary. Some cafés allow children with supervision, while others set age limits to ensure the cats' comfort and safety.
